Robotics and Programming

Jr. Robotics and Programming (Grades 1-2)

The Jr. Robotics Course (Grades 1-2) Takes children on an introductory journey into the world of robotic machines. Children will be introduced to basic engineering and programming concepts as well as motors and sensors. We will be using two different platforms for kids in this class, Lego Wedo education and Cubelets by Modular Robotics. Children will learn through playing and creating different machines and programs using motors, light sensors, distance sensors, power, inverse blocks, and more.

Sr. Robotics and Programming (Grades 3-5)

The Beginning Sr. Robotics and Programming course and Workshop (grades 3-5) takes children on an adventure of technology and creativity. Children will go through a course in understanding basic computer science using the EV3 Robotics and Labview software program. Lessons are made to balance technology and programming with hands on educational learning and encouraged self thinking. They will begin with understanding computational thinking, flowcharting, programming and coding of the EV3 robotics. The course is a venue for children to use their knowledge from the lecture and to participate in solving FLL challenges, team collaboration, obstacle courses and SUMO competitions.

Middle School and Intermediate Robotics (Grades 4-5, Grades 6-8)

The Middle School and Intermediate Robotics and Programming courses are only offered at select locations and takes students into a deeper study of the EV3 Software and Robotics as well as humanoid robotics and the Nao Robotic Platform. Children enrolled in this course must have completed a beginner course using the EV3 software and have a basic understanding of the material. This course teaches intermediate and advanced blocks, variables and constants, wires, master/selector programs, data and flow, FLL missions as well as the Nao Animatronic Software and Robot. If you have taken a beginner Robotics course with Star Kids Academy, you are eligible for this course. If you believe your child has knowledge and experience with EV3, please contact us for a brief phone consultation regarding his or her eligibility to enroll.

*We at Star Kids Academy do what we can to stay current with robotics and each year is an improvement on the last with curriculum and equipment.

**This year we are limiting our courses to only 10 students per class.
